Do you take my insurance?
I do not accept any insurance plans directly. I am an out-of-network provider, and can provide a statement you can submit for potential reimbursement.
Do you offer a free phone consultation first?
While many clinicians do a free meet-and-greet, I do not. I structure our Intake Consultation Session with the intention of providing therapeutic benefit through clarity about your goals and best next steps, both inside and outside of therapy. I find that this process is the most valuable way for us to evaluate whether or not you want to work together on a regular basis, or if the single consultation gets you on the right track.
how often will we meet and how many sessions will i have to do?
For individuals, I like to meet weekly for at least the first 6 sessions. For couples, we tend to meet every other week. I recommend all clients financially plan for 6 sessions in order to see significant changes.
My partner doesn’t want to meet - can i work my on relationship alone?
I often work on relationships with only one partner present. This is because dynamics of boundaries and communication are significantly affected by one player changing their behavior. I will provide honest feedback about whether or not it makes sense to work on your relationship within individual therapy or if I think couples’ sessions are necessary.
Do i have to do homework?
At the end of each session, we typically identify things to focus on or do outside of session. This sometimes involves reading or a worksheet, but more often it’s about being particularly mindful of an emotion or behavior and the effects those have throughout the week so we can see what’s working and what’s not.
